Arpanam Foods

Our story

The couple behind Arpanam

Arpanam Foods is run by two people who cook the way they were taught to live — with awareness, simplicity and devotion. This is their story.

Where it began

Hariharan and Hemamalini met far from any kitchen — two ordinary people with busy lives and a quiet, shared sense that something was missing. Long before Arpanam had a name, there were only late-evening conversations about the kind of life they actually wanted to build together.

What drew them to each other was the same thing that would one day shape their work: a wish to live simply, honestly, and with care for the things they put into their bodies and their days.

At the Isha Yoga Center

Finding Isha

Their first visit to the Isha Yoga Center was meant to be a short getaway. It became a turning point. Sitting in the ashram, eating the food served there, they felt a lightness and clarity they had never known — and they wanted to understand it.

They began practising the yoga Sadhguru offers, returning to the ashram again and again. Slowly, the way they ate, slept and moved through the day changed, and with it, the way they felt.

Cooking together in the kitchen

A meal as an offering

Of everything they experienced at Isha, it was the food that stayed with them most — sattvic, seasonal, cooked without onion or garlic and with an unmistakable sense of reverence. They learned that how food is made matters as much as what is made.

Back home, they started cooking this way for themselves, then for friends, then for anyone who asked. Every meal was prepared calmly, as an offering — which is exactly what the word "Arpanam" means.

Packing tiffins for delivery

Bringing the ashram home

For a long time, this kind of food was something you could only taste inside the ashram walls. Arpanam Foods grew from a simple wish — to bring that same experience to your home in and around Alandurai, Coimbatore.

Today, Hariharan and Hemamalini cook two honest meals a day, the way they were taught, for families who want to eat with the same care. For them, it is not a business so much as a way of sharing what changed their own lives.
